Does anyone else let their plant’s dying leaves get crisp...

Nessa is losing her last baby leaf and I’m gonna let it get crispy. I really just leave my plants alone πŸ˜… Her Oldest and Youngest leaves #dyingleaves #MonsteraMob #monsterathaiconstellation #monsteradeliciosa
2ft to light, direct

@Popcornjoness you are absolutely correct! It’s what I do as well. Our plants decide why and when they decide to get rid of a leaf, but before they do, they start taking back all the water and nutrients in that particular leaf. I don’t believe they’re wasting energy, actually I call that quite efficient. Recycling resources, if you will!

Infact, if it is normal firing of an old leaf due to underwatering/ drought, it’s actually risky to clip the yellow leaves off, because, when the β€œdrought signal” hormone is already circulating around the plant and they are using the water in that old leaf, and we clip it off, our plants will think they’d better start taking the water from the NEXT oldest leaf. The hormone signal takes a while to subside. Even if you have already watered. They move much slower than we do :) Who are we to clip them away before our plants are done with them. I only trim leaves if they are diseased or infectious in some way.
