@ExpertPokaka55 The ZZ plant is very low maintenance. And does not need a lot of water since it stores water in it’s roots. If the stems of your plant are soft you are most likely dealing with root rot!

The ZZ plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia) is a tough, low-maintenance houseplant. Place it in bright, indirect light, water every 2 to 3 weeks only when the soil is completely dry, and use a well-draining potting mix. Protect it from frost, and keep it out of reach of pets as it is toxic. Light NeedsKeep the plant in bright, indirect light for best growth. It tolerates low-light spaces or fluorescent office lights.Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the waxy leaves.Watering ScheduleAllow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.Water every 3 to 4 weeks, or even less often in winter. Never let the pot sit in standing water to prevent root rot. Soil and PotUse a fast-draining soil mix with perlite or sand. Always use a container with a bottom drainage hole. Temperature and Maintenance Keep room temperatures between 60Β°F and 80Β°F.Wipe dust off the shiny leaves with a damp cloth.Prune away any yellow or dead stems at the base.
In lesser words too much water is causing your problem most likely if anything is soft.
Great information above!

I like to add from My experience I would pull the plant out of the pot. Often times ZZ plants have a amazing aggressive root system. Here’s an example οΏΌ οΏΌ
She has many years and i have changed her before since there was no room left for the roots. I am a very lazy plant keeper and water less than more often and i even forget it for weeks so im not sure overwatering is . It has drainage, it is inside, away from.direct light. Ill try to check the roots and change soil or maybe to a bigger pot if no room is left.
@ExpertPokaka55 check the roots because of the mushiness. However, it’s a myth that ZZ are β€œlow light β€œ plants. They actually prefer high light! They’ll β€œtolerate” low light but thrive in high.
