I'm so annoyed by this.
Every time I lift this propagating Firebird Aloe out, I see rot. This is the third time and I just can't seem to save it. What should I do? I really don't want to lose this one as it was a gift. #plantsmakepeoplehappy #sadplant #rootrot

Your container-pot is too big. It holds too much soil thus too much MOISTure/Water... Aloe does not require continuous water, it stores water. Consequently, your plantbaby is being overWATERed.
Remove any softened, mushy parts. Spray or Dip with/in Hydrogen Peroxide to sterilize the bottom.
Re-pot in a container-pot with drainage holes, using well-draining fresh soil. Growing forward, remember that an Aloe can go without WATERing for 3-4 weeks.

@JustPlainDee Are there any substitures for Hydrogen Peroxide? We don't have any at the moment. But thank you!
@LittleSongbird after you cut off the mushy parts, you can let it callous before putting back in fresh soil/ smaller pot. Also you can sprinkle cinnamon on the end to help if you donโt have hydrogen peroxide.
@LittleSongbird I did this with my aloe. I did not use hydrogen peroxide; just let it sit out of a pot for a few days with cinnamon and cut off rot if it kept coming until it stopped. Then I placed in a pot of soil. I donโt remember if I watered right away but I think I left it for a few weeks before giving it just a small amount of water. A few weeks later and a leaf is turning colors but the roots are growing. I water it at most once a month now
I agree that your pot is too big. Most succs need a tight pot, otherwise they will rot. They prefer to be pot bound. Iโve made this mistake before. It leaves to much room for moisture and takes too long to dry out. Also I think you could add some perlite to your soil, to make it more coarse. To encourage better drainage, I would take it out and try to get it to re root and keep dry for now. Then if it puts new roots you can consider repotting. But for now she needs some rehab!
Not having the Peroxide is not a problem at all, @LittleSongbird ... as I said, the Hydrogen Peroxide would help to sterilize the area. But, it is Aloe, sterilization is an extra step, not necessary with Aloe -- it is a healing plant, naturally. It will begin to recover and rebound after the re-pot.
Aloe does not require callousing or a rooting agent in order to regrow, @VipSeraphina @TidyTigerpear and @SunnySucculent.
Wherein Hydrogen Peroxide, Honey, or Cinnamon would all assist regular plants with antifungal protection, it really is an extra, unnecessary step with Aloe (which is why I regret mentioning the Peroxide initially).

@JustPlainDee I agree that it does not need callousing as other plants may need, I also just stick mine straight into soil most times. Just seeing as the rot keeps coming back, I thought cinnamon would help a little as well as letting dry a bit. But most importantly I feel that a smaller pot and more draining soil, with less frequent watering, would be the best solution.
Agreed, @VipSeraphina, she definitely has to use a smaller container-pot aaaaand extend her WATERing cycles. ๐ฏ
** I too, just sick Aloe in soil. Like Tradescantia, they grow with contact. ๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธ.

@JustPlainDee @VipSeraphina How long should I let it dry?
It does not need to "dry out" or callous, @LittleSongbird ... You can put it back down in soil now.
