I mainly deal with succulents but I hear you should have good drainage to prevent root rot

Eir is a beautiful watermelon Peperomia! It’s hard to see the damage you mentioned in the photo. These plants are susceptible to overwatering. Allow the topsoil to dry between waterings and make sure any excess water drains out of the pot
