Ranunculus dying ๐Ÿ˜ข please help!#helpmyplantisdying #ranun...

Hi everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹
New to gardening here.

I bought some ranunculus about two-three weeks ago from a local store.
They were doing so great: I watered them as instructed, gave them enough sunlight and they were blooming wonderfully.
But then they slowly started to wilt and die. I did some research and continued to care for them, but they just wouldn't get better.

Is there any way that I can still save them? And if so, how?
Please any advice would be appreciated.

-I am in zone 10a (South Africa)
-Yes, I followed instructions on how to care for them from the nursery and from information that I researched on gardening websites so maybe I just have badluck with them ๐Ÿ˜•.

That would be correct. If they are black, squishy, or are falling apart then it most likely is root rot. If the roots still have healthier portions, you can try to save them by applying a fungicide and switching out the soil.

Another question, did you use new soil? Or did you reuse the soil they are currently potted in?
What do you mean by 'watered them as instructed'? If they tell you to water them at fixed intervals, you shouldn't follow their advice. Why? Because the conditions are drastically different
@Araceae By keeping the soil moist, but not wet since they don't like soggy soil. And letting the soil dry out a bit between waterings.
Hmmโ€ฆ does you pots have holes at the bottom?
Yes, they all have holes at the bottom of their pots.

There are plenty of things this could be if you are certain you are watering it properly. Just to be sure though, have you looked at the roots yet? They should be firm and white.

If they are fine, would you mind showing some more up close photos of the leaves and stems?
@futureplantdr Thank you so much for the advice. I have not checked the roots yet, but will definitely check to see if they're firm and white like you said. If they are not, I assume that it means that their roots started to rot (correct me if I'm wrong) and if that is the case, will I still be able to save them?
@futureplantdr

No, I didn't use new soil. I used the soil that they are currently in. But if I see that it is root rot, I will see what I can salvage and switch out the soil.

I really appreciate your advice and help, thank you. ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒธ
