Donkey Tails Withering
Hello! Does anyone know how I can prevent my donkey tails from looking so withered? I tried moving them near sun, then no sun, then less water, then more water. Nothing seemed to help them. #Succulents #DonkeyTail #HappyPlants #NewGrowth
@AnthuriumQueen do you have any tips for Dori? My cutting you gave me is still getting started
@RJG thanks for the tag. ๐
@Dori , Hi! It looks like you have a pot thatโs a little too big for your donkey tails. Please always try to keep in mind that they like snug roots. These beautiful hanging succulents are also sensitive to light and water. I recommend infrequent watering which means a good soak and then waiting until the soil dries out almost entirely and then giving it a regular watering. For this particular issue you are having, I recommend using a long. Used squeeze bottle and watering at the base of the one piece that is the most dehydrated. With that bottle, you can focus on getting water to just that one piece and I would also do the following to plump it back up: Water it today. Wait 3 days. Water it again. If it hasnโt plumped up entirely, wait 5 days and water again. But just that one piece. Bottom watering is ideal for hanging baskets because it forces the roots to reach for the water. It also keeps your medium from becoming a breeding ground for gnats and thrips. I would also like to point out that you may want to look at the bottom of your pot. If it only has one hole in the center, the water may be running straight down away from your plant roots and this may the the issue. Itโs easier for water to drop down through medium than follow a curved surface. If this is the case with your pot, you can move the one piece in the center which seems to be the one with the problem to the side. Usually, succulent pots are flat at the bottom for this reason. Or you could reply in a nursery liner with multiple holes in the bottom and insert that into your hanging basket, this way you can also remove the nursery liner to evenly bottom water and then put it back in when itโs had enough water and is ready to be back on display.
Burros like very bright indirect light however, I think your issue may be in the shape of your pot. Let me know what you discover so I can offer more advice if you need it. Good luck and happy growing! ๐ฟ

@AnthuriumQueen thank you so much for the advice! Yes, the pot does have only one hole. I will repot the withered ones and water them for the next few days. Thank you for the detailed advice :))
@Dori I would. Keep them closer together so their roots can use up the water properly. I would go down in size via a liner and keep using the same exterior pot.
@AnthuriumQueen thank you! Will do.
