Silver dragon alocasia

I was looking to see how to propagate silver dragon, and Google said I need to remove the plant from the pot and divide it at the rhizome? Is it possible to take a cutting without doing all that and have it survive/grow new roots?
So you could do it that way, but that would be dumb since the Alocasia grows it's own seeds called Corms. Remove the corm from the soil if you want to separate it from the parent plant and you can treat it as a seed and bury it about 1/4 inch below soil or you can leave the white part open to the air.
You can use sphagnum moss or stratum as the soil when propagating it.
If you take the plant out of its pot you will likely find some of these guys.

Depending on the age of the plant. If it's a fairly young plant, like a starter, it may not have Corms yet.
