Repotting

If when I repot a plant into a bigger sized pot and the roots are currently wrapped around the outside of the soil and such, should I leave them or should I be separating it all for the new pot? If that makes sense?
@FrankieDizzle94 that's a mixed bag answer lol. I personally, if it's a new plant, open the roots and clear out the old potting mix because I use my own but also so I can check for issues with the roots. If it's a plant I have had for a while and seems healthy then I leave it be.
@FrankieDizzle94 I try not to disturb the roots because some plants can have an absolute melt down about it. It depends on how dramatic your plant is and if you're trying to remove the soil or not. I personally only remove soil if it's something very water retaining to prevent root rot in the long term. It's usually not worth ripping the root ball apart though.
I agree with @PleaseLeaf - many times I just go up a pot size, fill in the extra space with dirt, and let the plant do its thing. (: Sometimes a plant can get really stressed if you mess with the roots.
