Primary Leaf Scare

My Alocasia Melo has a very small spot on its large leaf, and i’m afraid it will meet the same fate as another leaf that dried up and got all mushy. What can I do to stop/ remedy this and what is it?
0ft to light, indirect
4” pot with drainage

The small spot on your Alocasia Melo could be the start of a common issue with Alocasias, such as overwatering, root rot, or pest infestation. Since you mentioned another leaf that got mushy, it indicates there may have been too much moisture in the soil, leading to potential root damage. Here's what you can do. Gently remove the plant from its pot and check for signs of root rot. If any roots are brown or mushy, trim them off and repot in fresh, well-draining soil. Adjust your watering routine by letting the soil dry out between waterings. Alocasias prefer well-draining soil and don’t like sitting in water. Inspect the plant for any pests like spider mites or scale. If present, treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap. Keep the plant in a spot with adequate light and maintain moderate humidity. Taking these steps should help prevent further damage to your Alocasia Melo.
@Gustavo Thank you! I’ll repot soonπŸͺ΄
@Gustavo What is the best soil mix for my alocasia?
@Clawffey Ok, so first, keep in mind I'm no expert in Alocasias, but I do know my way quite nicely around soil for aroids - which includes them.

So, I can help you.

I use a soil mix for my Alocasias which includes the following:

Perlite
Orchid Bark
Charcoal
Peat Moss
Coco Fiber

I usually make my own soil, but you probably could get away with something like orchid bark, potting mix, peat, and perlite.

Perlite is essential for aeration and drainage, so try to not skip it!

It's going to be a chunky soil mix.

I'm adding a pic of my Alocasia Cuprea's soil for ya.
@Clawffey Greg won’t let me add the pic, but there’s the basics!
Here it goes!
