How long can I keep the this in water?

I had to remove this plant from its dirt for 2 reasons. 1 The dirt was infested with knats. 2. The roots was growing out of the bottom. So my question is how long do I have before I need to put it back in dirt? #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #help #advice
8ft to light, indirect
2” pot with drainage
Last watered 2 weeks ago

@FabRubbercup Hello Danneth! I just had to remove my philodendron Brasil from soil and put her in water. She wasn’t doing so well. I put her in a clear mason jar πŸ«™ and I change out the water every 5 days. The rule of thumb on roots is I find that 3 inches work better than 2 inches. With this being the winter months it will take a bit longer to root. I am getting ready to put some golden pothos in with her cuttings so it will grow the roots faster. #PothosWater

I wish you the best of luck πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸŒ±πŸŒ±
the general rule of thumb is when the roots get about ~3” and/or has roots with others growing out of the main root! good luck!
you most certainly can wait longer and it will most likely live, but it might make it a little more moody when it gets transplanted to a soil substrate
Oh no! That’s unfortunate! Pests are the worst.
I am not sure how much your plant can be in water for. I think that as long as you replace the water every 3-5 days it should be fine for a little bit.
Are the gnats gone?
@AstroMind the knats are still slightly being a bother, I threw out the dirt
