Why does this look like this?
Hi! This is a snake plantβ¦why so floppy? Itβs been this way since it sprouted.
3β pot with drainage
Last watered 7 months ago
For one thing she's being overwatered. Especially because she has a plastic pot inside the terracotta.
I would move her into just the terracotta and then water every 2-3 weeks now that it is spring. Winter only water once a month.
The new leaves should come in straight. The old leaves probably wont straighten back up. Because the cells inside are already damaged from watering too often. So as they absorbed too much water they burst. This weakens the structure of the plants leaves causing it leaf droop because it can no longer support its weight.
I treat mine like a cacti. Really chonky soil actually my soil is rocky. And Terracotta pot only.
Leaf waves are good droop is not with snake plants. β€οΈ

@SuperbRaspfern @Heavenlyfran thank you! so even if the soil (cacti, orchid bark, perlite mix) is bone dry by day 9β¦still wait to water until a 2-3 week mark?
@FreshOakmoss21 Yes because they store loads of water in their leaves making them able to have dry soil for a while β€οΈ.
If the soil goes dry, and you keep giving them water, they will keep drinking even though their leaves are full, that's what damages the cells and leads to the droop. They need to have some time in dry soil to use up the excess stored water.

@SuperbRaspfern ohhh! I didnβt know that! Thank you!
