Experiences with butterfly propagation method vs other me...

I am looking for tips on propagating some cuttings of plants with pretty small leaves. Due to all the various holiday sales, I found some incredibly priced cuttings of variegated string of hearts, and added on a string of frogs, million hearts, string of nickels, and ficus pumila minimus variegated, and dischidia Geri cuttings. I know these aren’t all the same types of plants. Some have those paired leaves on the vines (β€œstring of” plants), others don’t (pumila, millions hearts, and dischidia).

I am looking for maximum growth over the next 3 months propagating them. Not merely length, but to create fullness in a plant, as I am trying to grow them, and plant them in small pots for my sister for her birthday at the end of Feb. soilsistertoo">#shesmysoilsistertoo

Would you be willing to tell me what you know and any tips/tricks you learned to help this project be successful? #StringOfHearts #stringoffrogs #stringofnickels #millionhearts #ficuspumilaminimus #dischidiageri #PropagationStation
I don’t have experience with the strings you have, but I have personally propagated string of pearls, and it was way easier than you would think! I removed a few pearls from my cutting and laid it down on a bed of succulent soil. I misted the plant once every 10 days, and it had new roots in about a month. You can even use a rooting hormone or cinnamon to speed the process up. Once they have roots, I would fertilize once a month with a balanced npk fertilizer for maximum growth!
I use floral pins like this (you can bend any wire tbh, paper clips work well!
I also use high humidity to encourage root growth (a plastic tub to pop the plant in is perfect) lightly moist soil not too soggy. Then pin alon the top of the soil, I try to get the pins close to under the leaves as that’s where the nodes are and you want them touching the soil. It should be much quicker than normal propagation, especially in 100% humidity. You can either cut between each node before OR after they’ve rooted. If you want a bushier plant or just leave the one strand alone to do it’s thing. Very beautiful cuttings btw congratulations

@Bplants my friend gave me a string of bananas (maybe needles?) and I did that method of laying them in the dirt. It’s been 17 days and haven’t seen anything yet… but I honestly don’t know what I am looking for? πŸ€”
@HoyaAddict so I don’t know if the VSOH is coming as a strand or as pieces because you had to select how many cuttings you wanted and a cutting was a node. And I am planting them in 3” pots so… As for the other cuttings like the frogs and the ficus, do you do the same thing?
@TheOddAsity string of bananas are much easier than a string of pearls (IMO), they’re much more forgiving. You won’t see much just yet, it took a solid 4 weeks for roots to start to sprout on my pearls. They’ll sprout from the nodes along the stem. If you removed bananas, that’s most likely where they’ll come from!
@TheOddAsity Definitely try a prop box. The high humidity will make it easier for roots to come out and not dry up. You’ll know they have rooted if you give them a gentle tug and they have some resistance. I would leave them as whole strands as it’s your first time, you can take more cuttings layer to bush the plant out once you’ve established the cutting into soil. πŸ’•
