My spider plant leaves keep dying, how to save it?
2ft to light, indirect
6โ pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
Hello! I agree with @LavenderFields about evaluating the roots! Spider plants like to be root bound but often times their roots get a little unruly inside the pot & can rot if the roots become too bunched up in the pot! If you see any grey, mushy roots - remove those gently & spray the remaining roots with 3% hydrogen peroxide spray to aid in drying them out! Repot into a chunky, well draining soil.
I hope this helps ๐ค

@youssefoasis sorry bout you spider plant. I agree with the earlier comment. Mine is very finicky..so I put trellis holders around the leaves to make sure they arenโt getting wet and it looks kinds like a waterfall. You should be good with a dryer soil and good drainage
@elisenavidad may I ask, do you dilute the 3% hydrogen peroxide, or do you put it straight into your spray bottle as is? I have a monster mamma spider plant that has produced dozens and dozens of baby plants (I've given a good 60 babies away to good homes and kept many for myself) but now she's looking a bit sad. Still growing like crazy and still popping out stalks, but many leaves are dying/yellowish, and even the dark green leaves have "crispy" brown tips. I ordered a new pot and soil for her and plan to put her in a slightly taller (not wider) pot, as I fear she might be a bit soggy at the bottom of this pot.
@Preciousplants1 Thank you so much! Will you mind to share a picture of the trellis holders around the leaves? I'm kinda new to this
@Charli3Plant yeah makes sense which is strange since i thought i was overwatering it hence the droopy dead leaves, but the guy at the plant house told me the roots were perfectly fine and that all it lacks is proper lighting.. so yeah i'm gonna try to monitor it better in the coming weeks and see what happens! Thank you for the response
@youssefoasis hope you can see it better: I have a mixed plant with solid green and striped. Little experience ๐๐๐ฝ
@Preciousplants1 I truly appreciate it thank you! Ah okay so it's like some sort of a support system for the leaves.. it looks beautiful ๐ชด
@Charli3Plant Great to know! i hope that's the case, will see how it goes *fingers crossed*
@youssefoasis yes it not only give them some support but keep the bottom leaves from growing into the soil and getting too wet. Hope it goes well for you. ๐๐ฝ
@LavenderFields Thank you! Yeah I changed its location to a more bright spot, really hope it starts to thrive ๐ค
@youssefoasis : It still can thrive just cut any rotten roots and dead leaves.
