@Sweetpea Iโm gonna ask @MotherOfOrchids to answer your question.
Iโm not an expert in this type of orchid - phals are my thing - but I think they are like phals and like the temperature to drop overnight to induce blooming. In phals, the drop is usually around 10 Celsius, but it might be different for different orchid species. As the above poster says, making sure they have sufficient light and nutrients also means that they have the required energy needed to bloom
@MotherOfOrchids is right- when the orchid experiences several nights of cooler weather, they tend to bloom. My orchids got pretty cold when our electricity went out and now I'm expecting new flowers! ๏ฟผ
