Leca is not meant to be used as a soil amendment, it should only be used in semi-hydro set ups where the plant is in 100% leca. Chunky soil is good for aroids and other tropical plants, but cacti come from the desert. They need a gritty, rocky soil with minimal organic matter (bark is organic matter) that drains quickly and dries fast. Cactus or succulent soil mixed with perlite or pumice rock is perfect. 50% cactus soil, 50% perlite/pumice. They also prefer terracotta pots, which are porous and help the soil dry out faster. These are VERY drought tolerant plants that can easily rot if overwatered, so the ideal set up is one that allows the soil to dry out the fastest. Only water when the soil is completely dried out. It's always better to underwater than overwater! An underwatered cactus is an easy fix, but an overwatered one, not so much. When the soil is fully dried out, pour water slowly until it starts to come out drainage holes, then stop. The proper watering routine is a thorough soak, then letting it completely dry, then a thorough soak, and so forth.
