Why does my pothos plant have brown vines and brown nodes...
Hello!! I am hoping someone can help! I am trying to save 2 of my pothos plants and it has been difficult. Thankfully I do see them getting better. I guess I had a few questions. They lost a lot of leaves on there vines, will those ever grow back? Also I noticed the vines are brown, is there something I can do about it? Last but not least I have been focusing on there nodes, I would love to propagate the plant and then replant it with the mother plant to get back itβs lush but for some reason the nodes are brown. I attached some pictures to give you a better idea on whatβs going on and how can I save my plants! Right now, the last two weeks I have been doing the baking soda treatment, spray them down once a week. #pleasehelp thank you so much πππ
@Stacefacetron Hi Stacy! Will you take a picture of the whole plant for me so I can see it and better diagnose it for you? π
HELLO @Stacefacetron. There are a few things that come to mind but I am betting on overwaterind and possibly root rot. I would pull out of the pot and check the roots for rot. If the soil is wet change the soil out. Fungus infections can be a bid problem for our plants when the soil is too wet for long time. I suggest that you water from the bottom. Fill a bowl with enough water to come up the sides about 1 to 2 inches. Let this sit until you feel moisture at the top. Usually 30 minutes to an hour. Just have to be checking. Check for any pests that may be lurking. Wishing you luck.
@Stacefacetron ok to answer your questions. No,the leaves aren't going to grow back on the vines where they fell off. I would cut them back to encourage growth. Cut them back where the vines are turning yellow as well as the brown vines. Those aren't coming back either. It's ok though because the plant as a whole looks good. All is not lost! They do look like they are getting too much water. I would hold off on the baking soda treatment as well. Also don't water until the top couple of inches of soil are dry or when the pot feels light then water again. If the app tells you to water always check the soil and make sure top couple of inches are dry before watering again and then manually update the app. I believe it will eventually reset itself but always check before you water. I know it's going to hurt to cut them back but they will grow back and when they do they'll be healthy. I'm mainly talking about the first plant that looks really leggy because of the Lost leaves. The second plant looks really good. But like I said just make sure that it dries out before watering and put it in a sunny window indirect light but bright.
@Stacefacetron You can also put the vines that you cut in water to see if they'll take root. The really brown ones probably won't. You can tell by looking at the nodes on the healthy part of the plant versus the ones that aren't. Just make sure you have a node or 2 submerged. Once they start to root pretty good you can replant back into the pot.
