Hello again!
This is about my Weigela in the same soil spot. The leaves look fine but the flowers are looking sad and dry. They have gotten enough water each day.
8ft to light, direct
20β pot with drainage
Last watered 1 week ago
@Pinksugars113 Yes, you can absolutely perk up a Weigela florida that has finished its main bloom and is looking tired. The best way to refresh it is by pruning immediately after the flowers fade in late spring or early summer. This removes spent, brown blooms, encourages new, healthier growth, and can even trigger a sporadic rebloom later in the season. Prune the Tired Flowers (Deadheading)Trim it back: Cut the shrub back by about one-third to one-half of its size, shaping it into a neat mound.Focus on spent blooms: Focus on removing the faded flower clusters.Remove old wood: If the bush is over 5 years old, cut out a few of the thickest, oldest, and non-productive branches (those \(1.5\) inches or thicker) near the base to encourage new, vigorous growth.Do not delay: Since Weigela sets flowers for next year on this year's new wood, pruning late in the summer or fall will remove next yearβs flowers.
