Is my spider plant dying?!
My spider plant is not doing as well as it was a few weeks ago. I was having a nat problem so I do what goe said and was trying to let the soil dry out and kill them. I also used a peroxide and water solution that it said to use. What can I do to help him grow more? Heβs lost his color and heβs sagging a lot more. Help!
@Mal_pal Hi there @PlantAgenet117 is right. Spiders go pale when theyβre really thirsty. Which would make sense if youβre holding off water due to gnats. So itβs time to water now π Your soil does look pretty heavy, I would recommend also adding up to 50% perlite or bark so it can drain properly.
@DreamMachine I did just give it a good soak so the soil is very dark and wet right now. So you think itβs good??
@Mal_pal yes it looks fine. Fighting fungus gnats over here. Itβs exhausting.
@Mal_pal I keep my spider plants 2-4 feet from a west window where they receive indirect light. I notice my green one will get lighter in color if it needs water. Overall your plant looks healthy. I batted with fungus gnats for months. I repotted many of my plants and I added a layer of sand on top soil because it suffocates any left in the soil so they canβt hatch. I also bought gnat traps from Amazon. I have my spiders in a chuncky sort of soil mix. I used Fox farms ocean Forest soil, perlite pine or orchid bark chips and sand.
@Shells_Garden I keep this plant up at my work so during the week itβs not very close to a window. But every weekend I move it to a window to get sunlight. I might have to do a layer of sand like you are saying though. I almost got rid of them completely. There was just one I saw this morning and I killed it so maybeπ€πΌ
