Should i remove some of the Root Ball?!
went to freshen up rocky’s soil to find his roots like this! His growth has only been focused on 1/2 of the pot so i was expecting to repot in the same home he came from. I havent been able to free much soil than what I have shown in the photos. i

Well, he's root-bound, that’s for sure, and will definitely need a bigger pot and more soil. It's OK if you can't free all the soil since a root-bound plant will cling to as much soil as possible for water and nutrients. What matters is that you have some roots exposed to quickly take up water and nutrients again when you repot your plant. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to repot your plant in the same pot without seeing the pot that is, but usually if the plant’s roots start to take on the shape of the pot it is time for a bigger pot.
so i did end up taking some of the roots away. They truly did not seem like there was any life left in them, and i didnt want to leave him out of the pot much longer at the time. I freshened the soil and he seems to be bouncing back! I will however make sure i find a bigger pot for him soon :)
