My bougainvillea keeps shedding leaves and losing flowers...

I just got this plant from Home Depot bc it said it was heat and drought resistant and my patio gets a lot of direct sunlight and it’s hard to keep anything other than a cactus alive out there. Anyway i’ve been watering her every other day bc the intense heat and sun dries the soil so quickly. Perhaps this is too much heat and sun for her? Any advice would be appreciated!

@CongenialKaro68 Fun fact most people don’t know: bougainvillea needs stress to bloom, but too much water = full diva shutdown. She’s drought-tolerant, but not moisture-loving so watering every other day, even in heat, can actually cause leaf and bloom drop. Her roots love to dry out deeply between waterings. If she’s in a pot, make sure it’s bone dry halfway down before watering again. Also, don’t baby her she blooms best when slightly root-bound and mildly ignored. Give her tough love, not spa treatment, and she’ll reward you with drama worthy color!
@JungleDreamer thank you, good to know!!
