Hi Jennifer and welcome to Greg.
I honestly just continue watering my VFT's and leave them be. I've heard of putting them in the fridge etc. But mine are thriving and putting out new growth. Just make sure your VFT had enough light, they do like being in front of d an eastern facing window. Mine are about two years old!
