I'm not a cactus owner myself, but the common advice that people usually give to a new cactus owner is usually don't overwater it. Resist the urge to water it unless the soil is completely dry. Use pot with drainage and soil mix that is suitable for cacti (very porous). Give it lots of light as well.

Very nice basically as @Rumzzy said is spot on. They do like sun so basically where you have it is probably fine indoors.

Make sure you don't over water it. That is an issue. I recently found out the hard way.
