11β pot with drainage

Snap off a little petal (I think itβs actually called a cladode or somesuch thing I think of them as petals, just know itβs the wrong word)β¦ you really need to get the root part that attaches to the stem of the plant (that is what I read when I initially did this, at least, and I had 100% success). Set them on top of some cactus soil (that pot has a little cactus soil and orchid bark, itβs a little damp because itβs recently watered). Let it sit there. Give your medium a little water, then you only really need to water it when the little petal looks shriveled (once a month or so maybe). It will start sprouting little clusters from the root/base of the petal (it can take like 3-6 weeks if I recall) and it uses the rest of the water and nutrients in the petal to power its initial growth. It will also slowly start growing a network of fine roots into the soil.
I think I took these little guys some time last year when a friend randomly sent me succulents. I neglect the crap out of them and they initially had insufficient light for a number of months, so you may see faster growth if you give yours better conditions. The stuff Iβd read before doing these said that the little petal should eventually shrivel and die off, but so far these just rehydrate every time I water it (and it would do this before it had even grown real roots)

I just found a photo of one of them from last June so that was much earlier on, it was sitting on top of the medium of another plant before I put them all together in their own little cup. So you literally just leave them to grow, but if you do it on top of soil you want them to grow into (literally set atop, DO NOT bury) they will start growing roots down into the soil and they will rehydrate when the soil is watered.
