What is happening to this #Canna leaf?
So I received my two toddler-ish #CannaLily plants and potted them in a 16β pot with well-draining, fertilized soil. They have only been here two days and Iβm starting to see this weird browning on one of the leaves but itβs not like sun burn or scorching. Iβm pretty sure Iβm not overwatering them but the temperatures here in #zone9b have fallen this week (expected to be back high in the 90s next week). Could this be from the sudden temperature change? Is my Elle okay?

Itβs possible that the browning on your Canna Lily leaves is due to the sudden temperature change, especially if it recently dropped and is expected to rise again soon. Plants can experience stress from such fluctuations, and this can manifest as browning on the leaves. Ensure that you're not overwatering, as lower temperatures can cause the soil to retain more moisture. Monitor the plant's overall health, and if the issue persists once temperatures stabilize, you might want to check for other factors like pests or nutrient imbalances.
@Gustavo Thank you! Do you have any advice on how to check for pests or nutrient imbalances? I can do a visual inspection but Iβm not sure what Iβd be looking for with respect to nutrition, and as far as pests go, I can now identify aphids and spider mites but not much else yet. Appreciate you sharing your wisdom!
@AamchiWaadi visual inspection, maybe. For most pests you can usually see them. Or, you can see the signs on the plants - they look sick. Same with nutrient deficiency. Say, if a plant lacks Calcium, it will show stunted growth, deformed leaves, necrosis on leaf edges etc. I encourage you to do some research on these topics. Itβs VERY enlightening and youβll end up feeling like the super person regarding plant care lol :)
