That depends, what does the soil feel like? If it feels very dry, then yes you should water. However if the soil feels very wet or soggy, it should be allowed to dry out some first. A good rule of thumb is to always check the soil before watering (as opposed to following a set schedule). The way to check is by sticking your finger into the soil (or use a moisture meter—they're super helpful and cheap on Amazon!). Depending on the type of plant, the soil should be allowed to either partially dry out or fully dry out.
What type of fertilizer should I use
@momma70 you want something balanced, meaning equal parts nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. This will be indicated on fertilizer packaging as 1-1-1 or 5-5-5. But it's best to wait until your plant's active growing season to fertilize, otherwise it could cause fertilizer burn. I use a liquid organic fertilizer year round that can be used at every watering, then I'll feed with a balanced fertilizer starting in the spring through until September/October. There are many fertilizer options out there, as long as it's balanced like I described they pretty much all work the same...except I have to recommend steering clear of MiracleGro products. Their stuff is garbage in my opinion (many others feel the same way) and more likely to cause chemical fertilizer burn to your plant's roots. For organic fertilizer, I've used WeTheWild liquid plant food concentrate for a few years now and I absolutely love it. You dilute it in water and can use it at every watering. I noticed a big improvement in my plants when I started using it, so I'm a fan for life ☺️
Active growing season is that the spring?
