Brown leaves ??

What can these dark brown leaves mean?
3ft to light, indirect
4” pot with drainage
Last watered 3 years ago
If it is mushy, it’s likely rot. Your soil looks really dense and holding to much water. Does the pot have drainage?
@Blackboxjungle no it’s dry. The pot has one drainage hole . Maybe I need a different pot? I have another fern in a pot like this and she is struggling as well
I would repot, but check the roots and the wetness of the soil at the bottom of the pot when you do. That will tell if it’s the pot or overwatering. Maybe use the pot but drill more holes in the bottom.
My birdsnest doesn't like to dry out, most ferns don't. I'm wondering if it's gone a bit long between waterings.

Are the leaves crunchy or squishy/soft?

Did the sun get to it by chance? I've moved my plants around and the sun has burned their leaves more times than I'd like to admit. 🫣
@TruthfulApricot great idea. I just bought a water meter stick. I’ll check !
@sarahsalith it’s possible there is some sun damage. I moved her recently to a more shady spot. The leaves are dry and crunchy .
I try and mist everyday but I water maybe once or twice a week. It’s very humid in the area the ferns are in
@Capricornlove I bet it's sunburn. You can snip those leaves off. (:
@sarahsalith Thanks Sara. I snipped them . Hoping she’ll get better soon πŸ’š
