Is this mold?

I’ve had this rose of Jericho for. A while now. I used to keep it outside in a birdbath, cause it was big enough, and it slowly went from green to brown. Eventually I decided to pull it in and let it shrivel, but the I got a new vase. Filled it with water put it on top and within 2 days I’m starting to see fuzzy white on top? I assumed it was bits of paper towels I had been wiping down the area with. I rinsed it off in the sink, brushed all debris away, a lot of the ends of the plant came off? I put it back and it looks like the fuzz has returned. Is the plant dead-dead, no longer resurrecting? Should I let it dry out and try again? Or just let it go outside and get a new one? Thoughts?

Unfortunately I think it's dead-dead 😑 The same thing happened with mine...a few days after "resurrecting" it in a bowl of water, it started to get fuzzy mold and I knew it was a goner.

@stephonicle I left it for another day and it only got worse. Is all the mold on it okay to put back in the outside birdbath? I’m not going to poison them with mold? Although I think it was the birds that initially poisoned the plant
