Is this Micans too sun-stressed for long term health?

My classic Philodendron Micans has so many sun-stressed leaves! They’re gorgeous and I love them, but sometimes she drops them even while pushing out new growth. She wasn’t a deep green when I got her, so she already was in a coppery state. She has been living under grow lights in a greenhouse since August β€˜25, but I’m thinking of moving her into the bottom of my tropical cabinet. What do ya’ll think? Is the sun-stressing too much for her long-term? #PhilodendronMicans #Philodendron

Hi, Rey! I'm so glad you found Greg! Some of the leaves on that plant look a little stressed in general. My vote would be to change up the location of the plant and see how it grows.

That little bottom leaf, for instance, looks like it's on its way out.

This plant likes to have soil that's evenly moist and that doesn't dry out.

How does the soil feel? Is it very dry to the touch?
Thanks! It gets dry quite quickly but is currently moist since I watered yesterday. I do think I’m going to move it to the cabinet I have. The humidity sits at around 75-80% and the light is a bit lower, so it may like that.
If the soil is really dry and gets dry quickly, I recommend either soaking the pot in a bowl of water overnight (providing it has good drainage) to rehydrate the soil really well ... or consider a repot if the plant has doubled in size, looses leaves frequently, or it's been a year or so since the last repot.

Take ot from me: LOTS of things can be going on under the soil line that you can't see. Sometimes, the root system gets SO BIG and SO CRAMPED that it needs a repot -- and you can't even tell from above the soil line. (:
@sarah10orio Thanks! Do you have a recommended soil mix for Micans?
Mine is happy as heck its just in regular potting soil, but it sits up on a ledge far away from very bright direct sunlight, same with my best friends.

I’d say diffused light or far from direct light
@Theoreyofplants I like using potting soil with added perlite and sometimes some orchid mix that I toss in.

I also try to remember to put in #systemic houseplant food to keep away the bugs.
