Do I need to put more water?

Hey so I have a painted lady which I am propagating and idk if I need to put more water in it? Is this supposed to be a root? Is it fine how it is??

This looks like plenty enough water, I’d say!

You can always use rooting hormone to speed up the process too.

Should the whole thing be submerged? I'm just wondering about the "roots" or part of the plant that's above the water. I know the leaves need to stay up but idk about the 3 upper things (I need to learn more plant lingo).

Keeping that first node in water should be enough. You don't have to have the rest of the stem in water. If one node produces roots, you can put it in soil after a few weeks to a month. You have it in enough water 🙂
