Is this a flower bud?

Hey Begonia Besties, I have this newer, rather small begonia miss mummy that has a quite bulbous growth happening. It seems to me much too small a plant to be flowering, but in my Maculata, I haven’t seen a new stalk look like this. In fact, there’s a teeny tiny new growth lower that looks more like what my Maculata stalks look like. Is this how Miss Mummies make new stalks or is this babe flowering already? #Begonia #BegoniaBunch

Have you seen new leaves yet? That looks like a new leaf to me. I love watching them come out!
@DreamMachine I haven’t yet out of this one. A leaf makes more sense lol but just was surprised at how big it was! Thanks πŸ™
Of course! I think they kind of look like a hand flicking away something icky πŸ˜„ 🀌
@DreamMachine lol! That’s so funny, it really does look like that!
It’s producing new leaves. And in my pic you can see where it has opened and crusted back once the stem and leaf emerge. You can peel it off if you like, I just haven’t.
Btw, welcome to Greg. ☺️
@PrizedShadscale thanks so much! Loving Greg.
@Jho I believe it’s a flower growing and google agrees! I also have a new flower growing on my watermelon begonia! As you can see, the new leaf shoots are tiny and flat and the flower blooming is more round and swollen. Congratulations!! You have a happy Begonia!!
@Shells_Garden it ended up being just a leaf. Wild how different they look between the Miss Mummy and the Maculata. But they both decided to put out new growth, so we’ll take it!
