Leaves are curled up.

I got two stems from Srilanka. Due to customs I have to pack it inside my suitcase. Now the leaves are curled up. I am propagating the stems inside water. Is there any advice to help the plant ?

It’ll probably be okay. Just give it some time in the water to bounce back. It needs to recover from the stress. I’d make sure it’s in a bright spot but no direct sunlight on it. And keep away from heating or air conditioning vents. They make the air dry.
Thank you
Shall I soak the whole stems for few hours in water ? As leaves curling upwards means stress due to dehydration
@sheechilli73 I don’t think soaking the whole thing would help at this point. The bottom of the stems are in water so the plant will draw up the water there. Yes leaves wilt and curl up if they’ve been cut and not put in water soon after being cut. There’s a β€œwilting point β€œ beyond which the leaves cannot go back to normal. Those leaves will eventually wither and probably dry out or fall off. It’s okay. Once roots get established in the water new leaves cannot start to grow again.
@sheechilli73 one thing you can do if you want to transport cuttings is to place some wet paper toweling in a baggie and wrap it around the stems. It gives the plant some moisture until you get to your destination ✈️ 🧳
