Ummm help
Was gonna to make a normal post and add of picture of the #SolomonSeal @peter1 was so kind to give me and I saw THIS! What is going on???
Apart from that, yesterday I tried to convince my neighbor to βjoinβ the #SolomonSealClub because she was talking to me about her yard and said that she couldnβt grow anything against her wall because it was shady and I was like βcan I give you a plant recommendation?β π she said that it would be too much work (even though I tried to tell her that it wouldnβt be) thankfully the neighbor next to her also has a wall! She was really nice though!

4ft to light, direct
6β pot with drainage
Last watered 3 years ago
@kscape ohhhhhhhh I didnβt even think of that! I completely forgot! They like shade! Thank you so much! How could I forget! But they started yellowing before they were there. COME ON GREG! οΏΌARENT YOU SUPPOSED TO TELL ME IF THEY ARE IN TOO MUCH SUN!
@RJG! This needs to be updated! Solomon seal LOVEEEEE shade! To be fair I did forget because they started yellowing before so I completely forgot about the fact that they like shade BUT STILLL! THE AGONY! THE ABUSE! THINK OF THE POOR VSS! π«£π«£πππ’π₯Ίπ©π¨π±π±π±
@PlantyPlanter i think itβs because they were recently added to Gregβs database so itβs a recently new plant. I also believe Greg uses the input and general information of users who own the plant, and take that and use it, along with their own system of plant info and come up with the plant info thingyβ¦.Iβm rambling lol @RJG help
@kscape Ik, but itβs weird that they didnβt know itβs a shady plant because Solomon seal is a shady plant. But thank you again!
@PlantyPlanter Btw, love the VSS. Very beautiful β¨π
@kscape @peter1 @sarahsalith @sarahsalith ok, I moved my VSS to a hopefully better spot. Should I water them? Because the soil isnβt really wet and I want the soil to be compact. Should I wait until tomorrow or water then right now?
@PlantyPlanter Trim the dead leaves! I donβt know about the watering though
From what I am realizing, Solomons Seal seems likeοΏΌ a rather fragile plant. If you lose some leaves, I bet later on, the rhizomeοΏΌ will push out more stemsοΏΌ.
I was kind of bummed that I got bare root SS from that lady on EtsyοΏΌ, but I'm pretty sure that when the plant stabilizes, you'll see new growth. οΏΌ
I'm learning that patience is the key οΏΌοΏΌwith this plant.

@sarahsalith ok, I think the stem might be broken. Iβll cute off the dead lwaves

@sarahsalith I wouldnβt say they are fragile. They are just shady plants so it makes sense that that happened
@RJG I have some info for the Solomon seal!
1. They are shade only plants
2. They arenβt toxic (at least for humans)

@RJG Iβm positive I had it labeled as direct lifht
@RJG like how long? Like how many hours of direct light?
@PlantyPlanter @peter1 @rjg Solomon Seals will tolerate most lighting conditions, and while they prefer shade, direct sun isnβt a death sentence for them!
This isnβt a burn or scorch, since the entire leaf is damaged. Itβs likely that the roots failed to take up in the new soil.
Weβll warn ya if theyβre getting too little light, but they can survive in bright light with frequent watering as well!

@Kiersten ok! I think the stem may have been broken on that one π¬ but still I think it was better that I moved them from there because that room was all windows and got at least 8 hours of light. Thank you so much for your time! This is good info! If you need any info about Solomon seal to add to your data base I will be happy to share! Thanks! πΏ
