Super droopy
Got this cute little rescue from Loweβs. She is super droopy. The soil was very wet when I picked her up, I have been letting it dry up a bit and have it close to the window and humidifier. It has been a week, and she hasnβt perked up. Thinking about repotting to get some nutrients. Any suggestions on how I can help?
1ft to light, indirect
4β pot with drainage
Last watered 1 week ago
Iβd hold off on repotting for now. Since the soil was very wet, itβs likely overwatered and just needs time to recover.
Skip fertilizer and tonics for now since stressed plants canβt use nutrients and it often makes things worse.
If the soil smells sour or stays wet for a long time, then repotting into fresh soil would make sense.
Once the soil dries a bit and the roots can breathe again, it should start to perk up.

While repotting does cause a plant stress, you have to weigh the potential risks against the potential benefits. If it's suffering from root rot, it's best to get it out of that soil asap and into dry, fresh soil. At that point you can inspect the roots for signs of rot and address it. Commercial growers often use very moisture retaining soil, so it's not uncommon for plants to already be well on their way to root rot when you bring them home. Leaving your plant is soggy soil with possible root rot will not resolve itself on its own.
@GoddessPuriri90 I do agree with @FamedGymealily about fertilizer. Never fertilizer an unhealthy plant.
@GoddessPuriri90 it might have incorrectly been labeled a baby rubber plant. I donβt have one of these but Iβve seen it before, an βAnt Plantβ or hydnophytum papuanum. Does that look closer to what you have? I am unfamiliar with its care, but it might be easier for you, if you were working with the right plant name! π©Ά
@FamedGymealily thank you! It had peat moss on top, so I wasnβt able to see the soil till today. I pulled it off and the soil was not good so I went ahead and repotted it. Wish me luck! Thanks again!
@DreamMachine it actually wasnβt labeled, so I am totally guessing. Hard to identify it with it not in good shape. I did mix some orchid mixture in with the succulent soil. Hoping it likes that.
@GoddessPuriri90 totally true. I hope that helps and it perks back up! π©Ά
@DreamMachine thank you!! I didnβt consider my identification might not be correct.
