Dried-up caladium leaves should be removed once they completely die back to prevent rot and pests during the plant's winter rest period. Cut the dead stems about 1 inch above the top of the bulb or tuber. Why and When to Remove Dried LeavesWait for natural drying: Let the leaves turn yellow and dry up completely on their own. This allows the plant to pull the last bits of energy back down into the tuber.Prevent decay: Leaving rotting or wet foliage attached once completely shriveled can invite fungus, mold, or bugs into the resting tuber.Storage prep: If you plan to dig up your tubers for safe winter storage, trim off the dry leaves before placing the tubers in a dry box or bag.
I always clip them so the plant can put its energy towards growth.
