Hi David, First remember to water it lightly . About twice a month. Overwatering seems to be one of the biggest causes of cactuses dying. Make sure if you have your cactus near window that itβs not too close to the window. One way to tell is to place your hand next to the cactus facing the window for a minute.οΏΌIf itβs too hot on your hand, itβs too hot on the cactus. I would also suggest putting it in the terra-cotta pot. Good luck. π οΏΌ
@MalagueΓ±a Thank you! Iβll probably move it back a bit. Also, how soon should I repot it? Is it okay in the nursery pot for now?
@make-be-leaves Nursury soil is definitely not the best. Itβs made to retain moisture in commercial nurseries, and doesnβt wick water away fast enough. As soon as you get a gritty cactus soil (Donβt use Miracle Grow for cacti!) I would repot it and donβt water for a week after that to give time for any micro cuts in the roots to heal.
@make-be-leaves , for now yes. Cacti are not particularly fussy. I like Terra cotta because they absorb much of the excess moisture in the pot. Thatβs why I like them.
@MalagueΓ±a Already bought a terra cotta pot! Iβll change it in a couple days since I just watered it today
