Don't be scared to cut the roots. You can safely cut them. After cutting let it sit on your counter for a couple of days to allow the cuts to callus over. Don't immediately repot. Fresh cut roots are very prone to rot so the couple of days gives it time to naturally protect itself. Cut about 1 third but no more than half from the bottom. It'll thank you for it later. ๐Ÿ˜‰
