My bromeliad plants are brown spotting

I recently separated my pup plant from the mother. I’m thinking I might have separated them too early. What should I do now? Does it need more sun? I put a dead locus in its opening, hoping it will use it as nutrients. I noticed the mother plant is also yellowing and browning in spots. Is it just aging? Please give me advice, the mother plant’s name is pneumonia, and she is my favorite plant child ( I know I’m not supposed to to have favorites.. but I do)
@YoungChickpea69 . I haven’t separated the baby from my Urn plant yet but I did my bromeliads last year. As long as the baby had some roots, it should have been fine. My baby broms are still growing a year later. I keep my Urn plant inside under a grow light for 12 hours and I’ve never seen that kind of damage. Are the leaves sort of mushy instead of firm? If so then it might be crown rot from overwatering or leaving stagnant water in the crown too long which caused some type of fungal infection. I’d remove or cut back the damaged parts and use an insecticidal soap treat affected leaves. I’d also clean the inside of the crown with a mix of 1 part peroxide to 3 parts water and wipe the inside of the crown dry with clean soft cloth or a paper towel. I only water my plant with distilled or filtered water every few weeks. I don’t use tap. I’d also sprinkle some cinnamon in the top soil and on the affected leaves. It’s a natural antifungal remedy so it will kill the black from spreading if it’s a fungus. That’s the best advice I can give. Here is my Urn plant and my 2 baby broms
@Shells_Garden I wonder if I have a different type of brom plant. In the pictures, mine has rough jagged edges. I don’t know if that has anything to do with the temperament of my plant. The brown bit of my plant is slightly mushy. How long should I be leaving stagnant water in the crown? I thought I was supposed to leave it there that way it can build up larva and attract insects and eat off of it. How should I go about removing the damaged parts? There’s only three leaves. I’m scared of killing my plant. How do I make sure that the possible fungus doesn’t spread and should I worry about it spreading. What do you think of my older plant?
