Help!!
I might really be bad at explaining this however, does anyone know that when you pot a plant and the soil that comes with the plant that it’s in does that soil take a couple weeks to grow into the soil I put it in when I repotted it? @Miawilliams Hi Mia are you saying that you transplanted with the same soil that it was growing in when bought ? What kinda plant is it the soil requirement may be different from what it actually needs . Post a picture also please.
If u mean u r using new soil, then yes it takes time to de-stress from old environment to new. My question for u is, is it time to repot? iOW, has it been 2 yrs or the plant doubled in size since u got it? If neither of these r true, my next question would be y r u repotting it? If u just “wanna”, then i hope ur using same size pot and similar plant mix/soil/substrate etc. as its common to only repot when conditions i mentioned above r hit. Also, if this is a new plant, u dont want to increase the size of its home right away, else u will be watering soil instead of roots. Plants like to be snug in their homes. Besides all that, the rich nutrients that new soil provides only need replenished at repotting time & a vitamin such as SuperThrive at all other times. SOO, if its new, u r really stressing it, if u planted in anything larger, go back to size it was in unless it has doubled in size, then increase only 2” diameter at most. Either way,, ur plant will heal itself but please let it do so by itself. Other than regular watering, just let it be. If there r any other conditions going on that u hadn’t mentioned in ur question, then please add to it & perhaps i can give u more guidance depending on the entire situation. @BuffCaperspurge I have only had this plant for about two months now and I repotted it when I bought it because it was in those plastic containers
@Miawilliams Mia, it’s still best to allow it to get settled even in nursery pot (unless in a cutting in envelope) for a few weeks before making any changes. Remember that ANY change to a new plant cause stress so each change adds on to the last. No worries, as I said she’ll heal but let her do most of the work just always be sure ur not packing in roots but allow them space and air because they r the heart & soul of ur plant🫶🏼
@BuffCaperspurge I wasn’t planing on repoting anytime soon haha! My plant is still very tiny and needs a couple months to grow 😁
@Miawilliams I would not suggest using fertilizer seeing it’s under stress from the fall. Just put it back in soil and water sparingly for a couple of weeks. Once it’s adapted and growing you can use fertilizer. I use Super Thrive and have found a few drops added to watering is best . I used suggested amount and burned two of my plant’s leaves.
@Miawilliams then u did good by asking for help and u will always get help here!!! Just allow her to settle down and adjust; normally when u get new small starter plant or such, u wanna wait about 2-4 weeks depending on how small sellers pot usage is (I’ve gotten ones in 1”, my Kentia Palm came w/a few fronds in wet envelope so I had to get it into plant mix immediately (I understood tho as even a small plant is extremely expensive so u go w what u got!!). Trust me, anything u go thru, we have been thru so ask anything anytime and just give as much Germaine info as possible! More is better. U will do fine because u know when u need to ask for help & thats the most important ingredient to a great knowledge base of plants & caring for them!!🫶🏼🪴🌱
