Direct sun or no? I’ve read both.

I think it’s Stapelia leendertziae or grandiflora.
It prefers bright indirect sunlight but can tolerate some morning or late afternoon sun. Too much direct sun can scorch it, and the side exposed to more sunlight may develop a slight purple tint

It depends. They can handle direct sun in the mornings when it's gentler, but afternoon sun can be too intense. If you want yours to flower, the more light the better.
