What happened to my moon cactus? Appears to be rotting ba...
I just got it two weeks ago and itβs in a sunny area in the house next to another cactus thatβs been in that spot for a long time, which seems to be doing well. I did transfer it out of the nursery pot being the roots were coming out of it. Have I killed it? #MoonCactus

I donβt know much about moon cacti but within my experience with other cacti, certain nurseries or stores will sell the ones that are currently in bloom and many people think theyβre dead once they stop flowering; however itβs just their natural cycle. Donβt know if thatβs the case with Apollo, but just a guess.
Unfortunately, the top part is dead, but if the green base is firm, itβll live and keep growing on its own (itβs probably a dragon fruit cactus).
What youβll need to do is slice the top off with a clean knife, cutting slightly into the green to ensure all the rot is gone. If you leave any mushy spots, the rot will spread.
It likely got too much moisture when repotted, so make sure the pot drains well and let the soil dry out completely.
