My bromeliad, Bernadette, is growing but splotchy yellowi...

#Bromeliad sheโ€™s been pushing up new growth in the middle with clusters that seem like sheโ€™s heading towards sprouting new big leaves. The pink is starting to fade from the tips. I think itโ€™s normal but I just donโ€™t know. Do you think sheโ€™s ok? This is a pic of her this morning after a mist. Sheโ€™s outside northern facing balcony. Itโ€™s been hot and humid. Thanks for your thoughts and advice!

What a pretty color! Clearly you've been doing an amazing job caring for your plant. ๐Ÿ˜

The plant's bracts are the pink part. The flower in the middle has died (and that's okay!). The bromeliad has its own circle of life (cue the song ๐ŸŽถ):

The plant grows leaves, then the bracts, then the flower. After the flower dies, the bracts start to fade and get splotchy. Then, after some time, the plant will decline and die.

However, it will push out pups at the base of the plant. When the pups (a whole new plant) are about 1/3 the size, you can separate them and place them in their own pots.

After my bromeliad's flower died, it lasted almost two years and pushed out six pups before I composted it.
After a bromeliad blooms, the plant will live three to six months with proper care. Then it dies. The new growth you see is a baby. ๐ŸŒธ
