How can I fix this?
Thriving plant up until a couple months ago. I trimmed off a leaf that was completely browning and ever since my plant has got droopy. I water it every week
3ft to light, indirect
4β pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
@Cjpeters26 so, Iβve been through this with mine. I will share what I know and you can see what will work for you. A lot of people say humidity is a factor, I havenβt seen that. I have mine clustered with other plants and the humidity hangs around 45% which is plenty.
Hereβs the big deal- their substrate. These fern are epiphytes, so in the wild they grow on trees and even the moss on rocks etc. so they need a chunky airy substrate. I watched a YT video of a lady in Indonesia pot these in straight up cocoa chips. The roots are super fine and tensile so they weave through it. When it comes time to repot you will see how the roots bind together the chips. Now because I live in UT where itβs drier, I potted mine in all coco chips, then put about 1/2β of coco coir on the top to keep it from drying out. I also use a self watering pot. Mine has tripled in size in the 8 months since Iβve done this. Lemme know if you want the YouTube link. I am happy to share it.
If you have it in the substrate you bought it in, thatβs probably the culprit. I despise peat soil. Itβs so heavy and wet. It gets waterlogged for these plants that need a drink more often.

@TheOddAsity if you could send me the video I would love that! I noticed she needed a repotting when I got her but itβs been cold here so Iβve been too scared. I think I may need to to save her though regardless of temp?!

Iβm all for saving the plant over the season. I have repotted MANY of plants in the off season. With no issues, but only if you have them indoors.
