How come this pilea isn't growing?
I've had this pilea for 4 years now. When I got her she was lush and pretty and then she degraded to this.
She has been looking this pathetic for 4 years now. I have repotted her and given her new soil. I have fertilized. I have given her a bigger pot. I have given her a smaller pot.
My watermelon peperomia has also been in this same state for 3 years. They share a windowsill on the most sunny side of the house.
What am I doing wrong??π

Hi Dominique, welcome to Greg!
Sometimes our plants are working hard on growing roots so we don't see any changes up above.
The leaves looking healthy is a great sign!
When you repot them did you go up or down a lot size at all?
I find both my Pilea and Peperomias to be very thirsty plants as well, just an FYI

@PlantMompy When I repotted, i just went up one size and then down again with one size.
After making this post, I impulsively repotted the pilea into one bigger size pot and decapitated the watermelonπΆ Not my proudest moment, but if they die, I have the perfect excuse to buy more plants to fill up their empty spotsπ€.
Can watermelon peperomias grow roots when you decapitate them?

How did the roots look? They are probably working on establishing a good root system and each repot they have to restart so it's taking a bit longer than expected. The bigger the pot the higher likelihood or root rot so just keep an eye out for that as it could be one reason it's taking a while to see growth.
As for the watermelon pep, you totally can! You can water or soil prop the piece that broke off (or whatever method you prefer). You can also propagate from just the leaves so if you want to experiment you can prop the stem but also take off a leaf or two and prop those as well!
One word of warning, they prop WONKY. I have done it a few times and it's like they don't know what end is up. Babies grow down, out, in, up. I use glass so I could see them going every which way and I was all π₯΄π₯΄π₯΄

@PlantMompy, the roots of the pilea were shallow? I really don't know how to explain it. They were very close to the top of the pot, and they like grew in a circle shape. It was like they did not want to grow down into the bottom. soil
I changed the soil. The roots were also a proportional size to the plant, I think. Enough to not die hopefully
