Is this stem rot?

#Coleus
That doesnt look like rottage at the top, but if that thick black part is a little mushy, I would recommend cutting it because it would be considered rot at that stage
@SanguineRedrose yes, it’s stem rot. Trim it off and keep your soil light and evenly moist to prevent this.
@FitSedum what can I do to save it οΏΌ
@FitSedum what does keep it evenly moist mean
@SanguineRedrose it’ll be ok. You can lose a piece and the rest can survive. You’ve cut it and this tends to happen after a stem is clipped. Normally, you cut it as close as possible to the primary stem.

How to keep it evenly moist? Here’s a guide:

So the discoloration in the rest of the stem is OK like from the brown to the green

I don’t think so.. When I saw this on my plant, I thought the same. I have never owned a Coleus before, this is my first one. I bought it in June and it’s still going strong. My Coleus plant has the same thing going on. Coleus plants are known to develop woody stems as they get older. Your plant looks healthy! I have my Coleus inside my house for the winter. Another Coleus tip for you: It’s ok to snip the seed stalks off of the plant. If you leave these on, the plant will become leggy, the plant will go to seed and die. I normally cut mine off with scissors. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
Ok sweet thank you I just finished checking them and reporting them they seem good thank youn I was a bit worried I love this one… well all lol
The easiest way to kill a coleus is over watering. Mine do not dry out very quickly. And mine like to be watered from the saucer. Lost to many watering them every 2 weeks or so. Wait till they are dry before watering again.
