Just very curious what kind kf fern this is, and how I can stop it from turning brown and crunchy. I water it when I feel the topsoil is dry, I do keep it by a north/east facing window. I do also mist my plants and keep a water dish nearby.

I’m not sure what kind of plant it is, but if it’s getting crunchy, then it’s dry and needs more water. Terra cotta pots actually help wick away moisture from the soil, so you may have to water more frequently to keep it from drying out. If you’re sure it’s a type of fern, then the soil probably needs to stay consistently moist - most ferns don’t like to dry out and they like high humidity. You could also try placing the pot on a tray with rocks and water to help with the humidity as well🪴💚

Maybe a Boston Fern? I do believe ferns like consistently moist soil as being dry can cause the tips to turn brown. Is it near a heater or AC that could be drying out the soil faster?
