I know ivy likes to grow up. Can I let it grow down?

Yes it will grow in any direction. I have one that is just wild and grows however she wants and the other one, I put on a trellis and trained it to grow upwards.

Yes, English ivy can grow downward. It doesn’t need to climb, simply prefers to if something is available.

Yes, absolutely!!!!

If you trim your Ivy every 4 months or so, she will become more bushy...

Also, you'll want to repot her into a pot that has good drainage...
