Help

#RavenZzPlant Okay. Had to buy this. I knew it would be a project, but it was marked down to $10! Some stalks are black and some are green, one is long, one looks like it’s dead at the top and one is flopped over not broken but bent on the stem. I need all sorts of help. soil mix, separating, propagating? There’s like 10 stem. to work with. I took it out of the self wateribg pot and let it dry out, I sprayed with neem oil - I water blasted every leaf then next day went with a qtip and brushed every last visible part of the plantt with isopropyl alcoholohol. God autocorrectautocorrct is going insane. I’m leaving it because it’s funny but for real, how am I repottingrepottig or am i just gonna let it live like this?
1ft to light, indirect
6” pot with drainage

Hi Staci ☺️ it actually looks really good. It’s a Raven so all those leaves will turn black- that’s normal. As far as soil goes, Zzs need a well draining soil. I mix my own- cactus/succulent soil with lots of Perlite, Coarse Sand (not the fine playground sand), and I add a little orchid bark at the bottom of the pot to help with drainage. Terracotta pots are perfect as it allows the soil to breathe as well as the roots, as Zz are prone to root rot. When repotting only go up 1-2 inches in size from the size pot it’s in (looks like a nursery plastic pot- which you’ll want to get it out of that). I wait for my soil to be dry 2 inches down using my finger to feel. These plants tolerate a little neglect because their rhizomes under the soil store it’s water,
Grr I hit send button on accident. As for propagation- I’m not sure about that- mine is about a year old and not as big as yours- but I’m sure others will come with good advice on how to do it. For me- I wouldn’t do that until it’s been with you for a while- too much work will stress it out- just repotting will do that, but it’s normal and they bounce back well. I hope this helps a you got a great deal!!
Soil mix- organic preferred, well draining with perlite; I propagated it when I repotted it after about a month after purchase and both are doing well. It grows upwards but can bend off to the sides, I just used support sticks :)
Did it
