Succulent Propagation
Good morning! Well at least on the east coast of the US. π Has anyone tried to propagate a shooting stars plant? Not that I **need ** more plants but Iβm thinking about propagating some of my succulents for gifts. Iβve never done it before so I thought Iβd check with my favorite plant community. β€οΈπͺ΄β€οΈπ±β€οΈ #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PropagationStation #SucculentLove #Sedum

@JazzyGardeNerd you can propagate from the leaves or from stem cuttings. I've not done that variety of sedum but have done leaf cuttings of others.
You can gently twist off a nice plump leaf leave it on the side for a couple of days to dry up where it split and the place on some moist soil and keep it moist but not wet, leave it in bright light and in a week or so you should start to have some roots forming. And keep. This going until you see more buds forming and the you can put in a pot, then let it settle in and can gift away to your hearts content.
The same applies for stem cuttings except you cut off a head and then let that root. You can try some rooting powder if you want as well.
Here is a pic of some sedum leaves just laying on the pot of the mother plant to give you an idea.

Aha, here we go. These all had spent time on top of the soil and either already flowered and had sprouted a new root system so I could remove the original leaf or the leaves had a good new root system going and I wanted to see if they would continue to grow if I added a little rootimg powder and planted the new root growth.
@sarahsalith thanks, Sarah! Iβll try with some cuttings.
@TheLonelyDaff Thanks Taff! Itβs astonishing to me that they can root like that but I can see their little roots in the picture. ππ±
@AGsquirrel80 itβs like a little farm! π Iβll look for some rooting powder.
@JazzyGardeNerd I propagated the first round without any and I donβt see a difference yet, but no harm yet either π€·π»ββοΈ Your panda πΌ plant is lovely btw!
