She's looking a little dull

#FurryFeatherCalathea
Hello, new to this community. So glad to have found this app.
Can anyone help me understand why my Calathea is looking dull and has yellowing leaves. I have only had her about a month. She gets watered about once a week, like most of my plants. The room is well lit but she is about 10ft from the window. I have just moved her from a darker area of the room to a brighter more elevated spot.
10ft to light, indirect
5โ€ pot with drainage

Hey Leah ๐Ÿ‘‹

Poor baby... I think you did the right thing moving her closer to the window ๐Ÿฅฐ I have mine sitting just about a foot and a half in front of mine, but my living room is NW facing so doesn't get loads of direct sun.

I would say humidity is what Xena is asking for. They're tropical so despite the lovely furry leaves they still crave lots of air moisture.

I have a REALLY humid flat which stays between 60 & 80% humidity constantly (plays havoc on my glazing this time of year! ๐Ÿ˜‚) but I still have hygrometers scattered about the place so I can keep an eye on it (& that's how I know about the humidity levels in my own flat ๐Ÿ˜‚) they're not expensive and definitely a good thing to buy if you, like me, love tropical plants ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’š it might be an idea to get a wee humidifier and sit her next to it, I think she'll thank you.

I actually almost killed mine last year! The old enemy... Overwatering! It will also cause brown leaves, though I suspect that's not what's happening here. I just wanted to say be really careful and make sure the soil is well dried (like to about half the pot depth!) before you water. Although she is a Calathea, mine likes to be a bit drier than than the usual "constantly moist" soil that their finiky cousins like! I also put her into a terracotta pot and she bounced back REALLY fast! In fact, she's bigger than ever these days ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’š and she's STILL pushing out tonnes of new growth despite the sub zero temps outside! Xx
Btw I would clip off the worst affected leaves, they won't heal now and removing them should help stimulate new growth.

If you can raise the humidity and she's still turning brown, you'll probably need to take her out of her pot and check her roots etc... but I'd try humidity first xx
