Help with my dragons tongue! (Hemigraphis repanda )

I recently got a crispy red flame dragons tongue, i watered it 2 days ago. It was dry again yesterday and i thought it might just be really parched, so i watered it again.
Today it’s bone dry again! Am i supposed to water daily? or is it meant to dry up so fast?
The potting soil is the one it came in from supplier, which is usually good stuff.

Please let me know what to do! Do i leave her alone and dry out? Or keep watering daily? #dragonstongue #hemigraphisrepanda

Hi Meg! When you got hit home, did you repot? They like their soil to drain well- but I don’t think you should have to water daily. If you have not repotted- that would be my advice. Soil mixed with perlite, sand and peat moss would be beneficial. If you will be repotting, go up 2-3 inches in size- so a 5-6 inch pot. It’s not drought tolerant so letting it dry out won’t be good for it. I hope this helps!
@SillyPlantGirl Thank you for your help!- I didn’t repot yet but i definitely either today!
It must of been the soil it came in, silly meπŸ˜…
Not silly! Most growers don’t use soil that plants will be living in long term- it would cost a fortune for them. My husband works at a big box store that has huge garden center- and the growers re stock plants about every week. The store has dedicated water people because the all plants are in minimal β€œsoil/compost” and have to be watered every day. That’s why you had to water daily! I didn’t know this until he started working at this store!
